Perennials
The term Perennial is often used to differentiate a long-lived plant from shorter-lived annuals and biennials. Perennials are small flowering plants that grow and bloom over the spring, summer, and fall, then ‘die back’ every winter, to return in the spring from their root-stock. Some perennials do keep their leaves year round offering attractive boarders. They will persist as jewels in the landscape for many growing seasons.
Groundcovers
Groundcover plants provide dense soil cover aiding in moisture retention, retarding weed growth, and preventing soil erosion. Groundcovers can be woody or herbaceous; clumping or running; evergreen or deciduous. Attractive foliage, colorful flowers, and, at times attractive fruit can add color and texture to many areas in the landscape.
